Renowned coach Manny Robles, who works with Ukrainian boxer Sergey Bohachuk, expressed his confusion regarding the decision of former world champion in the super welterweight category Israil Madiev to withdraw from the scheduled fight with his protege.
Robles stated that Bohachuk and his team arrived in Guadalajara, Mexico, where they held an intensive training camp specifically preparing for the bout against Madiev. According to the coach, they were fully prepared for the fight and were eagerly looking forward to it.
However, as Robles learned, Madiev notified them of his refusal to participate in the match, citing health issues. This news came as a surprise to the Ukrainian side.
“We put in a tremendous amount of work to prepare for this fight. Sergey was in excellent shape and was eager to get in the ring,” Robles explained. He also expressed doubt about the validity of Madiev's reason for withdrawing from the fight, although he chose not to elaborate on this topic. The coach emphasized that in this situation, he and his team can only accept the decision made by the Uzbek boxer.
“We cannot influence the situation, so we are just moving forward,” Robles concluded. At this point, it is unclear whether the bout between Bohachuk and Madiev will be rescheduled for another date or canceled outright. There is also no information regarding the future plans of both athletes.
