The committee, in collaboration with the Agency for Information and Mass Communications, conducts systematic monitoring of internet resources that violate advertising legislation, as well as those promoting gambling and risky online games, lotteries, and other forms of gambling. As part of this effort, measures are taken to restrict or completely block access to such websites.
As a result of the inspection, the AIMC received proposals to block 42 websites promoting betting services, of which 30 have already been fully blocked.
It is worth noting that in September 2023, the Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights also informed about the blocking of certain websites advertising betting services. During that period, a proposal to block 92 websites was submitted to the AIMC, of which 27 were blocked.
In April of this year, a decree from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan titled "On Measures to Improve the Regulation of the Organization and Conduct of Lotteries and Games Based on Risk" was issued. According to the document, from January 1, 2025, the organization of risky online games and betting activities on the Internet will be permitted. However, all online games, lotteries, and betting activities will be conducted based on licenses issued by the National Agency for Prospective Projects (NAPP) in accordance with the law. Participation in all activities will only be allowed for individuals who are at least 18 years old.
