In accordance with paragraph 23 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a decree has granted clemency to 483 individuals serving sentences who, through ignorance, committed crimes but have sincerely repented for their actions and made a firm decision to change their lives.
Of these, 107 individuals are completely released from their sentences, 275 are granted parole, and the punishment of seven individuals is replaced with a more lenient one. Additionally, the terms of imprisonment for 94 individuals have been reduced.
Among those pardoned are 25 foreign nationals, 32 women, 5 men over the age of 60, and 274 individuals under 30 years old (including 104 minors), as well as 6 individuals involved in the activities of banned organizations.
This event is noted as a practical embodiment of the humanitarian policy being implemented in the country, as well as a reflection of the noble qualities of the people, such as generosity, leniency, nobility, and compassion.
In line with the execution of the decree, the responsible ministries and agencies have been tasked with providing assistance to the pardoned individuals in reuniting with their families and loved ones, social adaptation, employment, adopting a healthy lifestyle, and integrating into society.
