Uzbekistan plans to tighten penalties for violating traffic rules on designated lanes.

Violating traffic rules on designated lanes for public transport will result in a fine. Currently, a bill aimed at enhancing the efficiency of public transport usage is being discussed in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

According to this project, a provision will be added to the Code of Administrative Responsibility that establishes liability for violating traffic rules on specially designated lanes for public transport.

In line with the new regulations, penalties for violations will take the form of fines. For the first offense, a fine of three basic calculation amounts (1 million 125 thousand sums) is imposed, while for a repeated offense within a year, the fine increases to five basic calculation amounts (1 million 875 thousand sums).

The law will come into effect after being approved by the lower house of parliament, endorsed by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, and signed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
