In the Tashkent region, at the Lion Park zoo, owned by LLC "Wild Life," three lions attacked a zookeeper and killed him.
According to UzNews.uz from the Prosecutor General's Office, the incident occurred on December 17. Around 5:00 AM, three African lions escaped from their enclosure after the door was left open. They attacked the 44-year-old zookeeper, mauling him and consuming parts of his body.
By 9:00 AM, the incident was discovered by zoo staff. Two of the lions were returned to their enclosure using tranquilizers, while the third was shot by a local hunter.
Law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and representatives from the regional ecology department arrived at the scene. Forensic and DNA examinations of the remains have been ordered.
All predatory animals in the zoo were accounted for, and the enclosures were securely locked.
Currently, the investigative and operational team from the Parkent district prosecutor's office, along with specialists from the Ministry of Ecology and the Tashkent Zoo, are conducting necessary inspections.
