A verdict has been issued in Tashkent for a man who, in July of this year, killed his partner's three-year-old son. According to the court's decision, he has been sentenced to 24 years in prison, as reported by Aziz Abidov, spokesperson for the Supreme Court.
According to official data, on November 29, an open trial concluded in the Mirzo-Ulugbek District Court for Criminal Cases regarding the case of S. M., a 31-year-old native of the Fergana region.
As a result of the trial, the man was found guilty of committing several crimes as outlined in points "v," "zh" of part 2 of Article 97 "Intentional Murder," points "b," "g," "zh," "r" of part 2 of Article 97 through Article 25, part 2 of Article 219 "Resistance to Authority or a Person Performing Civil Duty," and part 3 of Article 251-1 "Manufacturing, Distributing, Advertising, Demonstrating Products Promoting Potent Substances That Are Not Narcotic Drugs, Their Analogues, or Psychotropic Substances, or Illegal Circulation of Such Substances or Toxic Substances" of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.
For the totality of the crimes, the defendant has been sentenced to 24 years of imprisonment. It was noted that he will serve the first 4 years in prison and the remaining time in high-security colonies.
It is worth mentioning that in July 2024, a quarrel occurred in the Yashnabad district of Tashkent between the assailant and the woman with whom he was living without marriage. During the altercation, the man inflicted several knife wounds on her three-year-old son from her first marriage and fled the scene. The child succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital. The assailant was subsequently apprehended and taken into custody.
The trial of 31-year-old S. M. began on November 15, presided over by Judge S. Abduganiev of the Mirzo-Ulugbek District Court for Criminal Cases.
