At approximately 2:00 PM on December 17, 2024, the Fergana branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Assistance received 13 individuals injured in an explosion at a gas station in Fergana. One of them was brought in deceased and was sent for forensic examination, according to the Fergana Region Health Department.
As of 3:00 PM on December 17, 2024, two children were in intensive care with the diagnosis: “Thermal burns of II-III degree covering 90% of the body surface (head, face, neck, both arms, shoulders, forearms, hands, fingers, chest, abdomen, both scapulae, lower back, both legs, thighs, shins), thermal inhalation injury of the upper respiratory tract II-III degree, burn shock of extremely severe degree, asystole.” Despite receiving medical assistance, they passed away.
On the same day, 3 patients with thermal burns of II-III degree covering 70-90% of the body surface were admitted to neurosurgical intensive care. Their condition is extremely serious. One woman from this department, despite resuscitation efforts, died at 11:25 PM and was sent for forensic examination.
Four patients are receiving treatment in the burn unit. They are undergoing necessary treatment for thermal burns of II-III degree covering 20% of the body surface including the face, neck, both arms, forearms, hands, and fingers. Their condition is stable and of moderate severity.
Three additional individuals who sustained minor burns were discharged home after being examined by a physician.
Currently, six patients are in the hospital under the supervision of qualified specialists who arrived from the capital, according to the Fergana Region Health Department.
