"How I Saw the World": A touching photo exhibition in memory of Yevgeny Oleksky has opened in Tashkent.

Olevsky was an exceptional engineer, programmer, and economist. He was one of the first to establish software exports from Uzbekistan to the USA and Europe, founded the company Olsoft, and became a co-founder of the telecommunications operator Coscom. However, behind his professional achievements lay another passion – photography, which became his way of exploring the world.

The exhibition features 50 works by the master, with a focus on humanity, nature, and life. Some capture the foothills of Tashkent, while others depict the shores of the Mediterranean Sea; a series of photographs is dedicated to the sculptor Yakov Shapiro. The images are infused with light, a love for detail, and a profound understanding of beauty.

Evgeny's daughter, Rebecca, shared how significant it was to fulfill her father's wish:

“Dad dreamed of holding this exhibition while he was still alive. His previous vernissage in 2012 left a lasting impression on many, and he wanted to showcase even more of his work. We tried to preserve the spirit of his creativity. Dad loved nature, people, and sought harmony in everything. These photographs reflect his soul. I hope that when people look at them, they remember him fondly.”

Evgeny's wife, Lyudmila, struggling to hold back her emotions, thanked those present:

“I am touched that people who knew and loved my husband came today. Thank you for your kind words and memories. Evgeny had a remarkable ability to combine science, business, and creativity. He wrote poetry, took photographs, and contemplated life. He always inspired us with his example.”

The exhibition is organized by the Olevsky family, the Tashkent Business Club "Ilkhom," and the International Caravanserai of Culture Ikuo Hirayama. In memory of Evgeny Isaakovich, his photographs will be given to close friends and colleagues who shared his journey.

“We don’t yet know if there will be another exhibition, but I am sure – my father's memory will live on in his works and in our hearts. He believed that art has the power to unite people, and I am glad that today his photographs are being seen,” added Rebecca.

The exhibition will be open until December 1, 2024. Everyone is welcome to explore the world of Evgeny Olevsky and see Uzbekistan through the master’s eyes.
