This is outlined in the new presidential decree
A Catalyst for Development
According to the document, the State Musical Theatre of Uzbekistan named after Mukimi has been granted the status of "academic."
The State Youth Theatre of Uzbekistan and the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi will, as part of an experiment, begin to independently address financial, creative, and organizational matters. This experiment will run from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026.
By the end of 2026, the youth theatre is expected to be transformed into a modern exemplary theatre. Additionally, an academy for theatre directors will be established under the GBAT.
Furthermore, a national ranking of theatrical collectives in Uzbekistan will be introduced.
To Inspire Creative Individuals
Translators will have the opportunity to compete in an annual contest for the best translation of works from world dramaturgy, while authors can compete for the best play.
To promote and develop domestic academic musical art, a national composers competition will be held every two years.
Additionally, a Mahmudkhodja Behbudi Prize will be established for playwrights, and a Bahodir Yuldashev Prize for young directors. The competitions for these awards will take place every two years. Winners will receive a reward equivalent to 50 minimum wage amounts (currently 57.7 million sums).
To enhance creative cooperation among directors, playwrights, composers, and artists, a project named "Nighoh" will be launched. This initiative will take place in August starting in 2025.
It is worth noting that proposals for the development of theatrical arts were discussed at a meeting with the president on November 22.
