The Agency for Cultural Heritage has not yet approved the relocation of the Babur monument to Andijan, where a high-rise business center is planned for construction. Obtaining approval from this agency is a necessary legal requirement for any redevelopment of this nature, reports a Podrobno.uz correspondent.

We remind you that recently we reported that the Andijan regional administration is considering relocating the monument to the great writer and commander from Babur Square to Registan Square nearby. The site of the monument is planned to be transformed into a business center.

The Agency for Cultural Heritage stated that on November 8, a request was received by the Cultural Heritage Administration of Andijan Region from the regional Cadastre Administration regarding the relocation of the Babur monument to the territory of the architectural monument "Jome" on Fitrat Street.

It is noted that the monument to Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur is a monumental work of art and is included in the National Register of Real Estate of Material Cultural Heritage.

According to the Cabinet of Ministers' decree (No. 265) dated March 30, 2019, any earthworks, construction, melioration, and other economic activities on the territories of material cultural heritage sites and their protected zones are only permissible after obtaining a conclusion from the Scientific and Expert Council of the Agency for Cultural Heritage.

Additionally, it is mentioned that according to the president's decree dated June 19, 2021, coordination with the Agency for Cultural Heritage of regulatory legal acts in the field and general plans of settlements where material cultural heritage sites are located is mandatory.

The Agency recommended that the relevant organizations contact the council to obtain a conclusion regarding the relocation of the monument.
