Hyundai Rotem aims to begin production of electric trains in Uzbekistan.

The Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan, Jasurbek Choriyev, held a meeting with a delegation from Hyundai Rotem, led by Kwak Chol Hoon, the head of the Global Rail Group. The main topic of the discussions was the localization of modern electric train production at the Tashkent Passenger Car Building and Repair Plant.

During the meeting, key technical specifications of the electric trains planned for production under this project were presented. The parties discussed the feasibility of the idea and agreed to conduct a detailed analysis of the proposals, as well as to consider the use of new production facilities.

It is worth noting that in June, during the visit of the President of the Republic of Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, the companies Uzbekistan Railways, Temiryolexpress, and Hyundai Rotem signed a contract for the supply and maintenance of six electric trains for the new high-speed route "Tashkent - Urgench - Khiva."
