On December 13, the press service of the Committee for Competition and Consumer Protection announced that a warning had been issued to Yandexgo UB.
Customers of the "Yandex Go" service submitted numerous complaints to the Committee regarding the sharp increase in taxi prices during the first weeks of December.
The company was recognized as a digital platform operator with a dominant position in the market. The Committee deemed the rise in tariffs as the establishment of monopolistically high prices, which is prohibited by law.
As a result, the Committee warned "Yandex" of the necessity to take measures to reduce prices for passenger transportation services and to review the platform's pricing algorithm.
It is noteworthy that since December 13, prices for trips have significantly decreased compared to previous days of winter. Tariffs had risen amid freezing temperatures, precipitation, traffic jams filled with public transport, and due to the introduction of restrictions on the operation of gas stations.
